Is the EU ‘s highly controversial and ideologically pushed-through ban on combustion engines a serious mistake? And if so, shouldn’t it be overturned immediately?
Helmut Becker, former chief economist at the BMW Group and Head of the Institute for Economic Analysis and Communication (IWK) refers in his monthly column about the automobile market for ntvNews that the criticism from economists, engineers, scientists and now also politicians of this decision by the European Union and of the one-sided focus on Electromobility grows.
In his column, he metaphorically compares dealing with the burnout as follows: “If a patient with a sensitive stomach cannot tolerate coffee beans, the doctor recommends malt coffee or similar surrogates. But he does not advise smashing the coffee grinder or coffee machine. It is not the engine that causes climate damage, but the combustion of fossil fuels such as petrol or diesel.”
His recommendation: until electromobility is perhaps really suitable for everyday use and clean at some point, simply use modern biofuels and eFuels(synthetic fuels) in combustion engines!
The European elections24 on June 9 can certainly make a difference!
