New expert study on HVO100

Do we really have to wait for electromobility as an alternative drive technology for climate protection in transportation?

Of course: NO!
The new “HVO100 overview study” by the Saarland University of Applied Sciences makes this clear! 🤷
Because there is enormous potential in the existing vehicle fleet as a whole that has so far been underutilized. Millions of diesel vehicles are in use every day – and this is precisely where HVO100 comes in: As a paraffinic diesel fuel, it can be used without technical conversion and, according to the study, enables a greenhouse gas reduction of up to 96% compared to fossil diesel, depending on the raw material base.

The study clearly shows the advantages of HVO100:
1. The existing vehicle fleet and infrastructure can continue to be used
2. The contribution to the reduction of new CO2 emissions and other air pollutant emissions is considerable
3. HVO100 is a premium diesel fuel that ensures, among other things, improved combustion and smooth engine running.

For us as the eFuels Forum, the study is an important impetus for the debate: a successful transport transition needs all available solutions – and especially those that take effect quickly.
