According to Handelsblatt, Shena Britzen – head of the hydrogen program at Rheinmetall – emphasized there that the armaments company wants to “consciously choose the path of renewable energy sources”. This is not primarily about climate protection, but above all about energy security. Because: “Green fuel can be produced regionally independently of the power grid and oil market and supply troops on deployment.” The aim is to be able to supply European armed forces with synthetic fuels in the event of a major war or crisis.
Another advantage of the new, synthetic fuels such as eFuels or HVO, which should certainly not be ignored in the current global situation!
