BMW boss Zipse says quite clearly: DRIVE DIVERSITY! In other words: combustion cars and electric cars. According to Auto Bild, BMW consistently focuses on technological openness and offers a wide range of drive systems that cover different customer needs – from efficient diesel to fully electric vehicles. The success of the BMW 540d Touring and the MINI Cooper SE at the “Golden Steering Wheel” underlines the strength of this approach! But that’s not all: according to an interview with Zipse, from January all diesel models produced in Germany will be refueled ex works with the regenerative HVO 100! This fuel consists of waste and causes up to 90% less COâ‚‚ emissions. In this way, BMW wants to promote the acceptance of such solutions and demonstrate its pioneering role in climate protection. Oliver Zipse also emphasizes that technological openness is crucial to achieving the COâ‚‚ targets – a ban on individual technologies such as the combustion engine would only hinder innovation.
In addition to electromobility, BMW is also focusing on hydrogen fuel cells, which are to be offered from 2028 as a supplement to battery-based electromobility. More on the Auto Bild article:
