Great exchange and many new impressions at the first eFuels Forum Community Meeting in Freiberg!
Instead of meeting digitally once a month as usual, the first community meeting of the eFuels Forum took place on Tuesday at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg with 40 participants from all over Germany. The event began with a welcome from Dr. Lorenz Kiene, initiator of the eFuels Forum, in which he summarized the successes of the eFuels Forum over the past three years. Host Prof. Dr. Martin Graebner, University Professor of Energy Process Engineering and Director of the Institute, also welcomed the participants.
Important new faces from the community were also introduced.
Then things got scientific. Dr. Peter Seifert, Head of the Synthesis Gas Technologies & Teaching/Services department, gave a presentation on the work of the Institute of Energy Process Engineering, describing various projects for the production of synthetic petrol, in which our friends from the CAC Engineering GmbH is a close partner. Afterwards, in icy temperatures, the guests went out onto the grounds of the Bergakademie, where they were given two guided tours of the various facilities. This insight into the demonstration plants was impressive even for less technically experienced participants.
At the end of the official part, the group discussed in an open space event how the work of the eFuels Forum could be further developed in order to inform more people about the topic of synthetic fuels.
Full of new impressions and ideas, we went to the Pilsner reception followed by dinner and networking at Schankhaus 1863 in Freiberg, where the future of synthetic fuels was not the only topic of discussion over a beer or two. Many thanks to the hosts from the TU Bergakademie, to CAC ENGINEERING – especially Antje Wappler and Laura Reinhold – and to Hannes Lange and Sven Schökel for the organization!
