Will a possible EU ban on combustion engines really do massive damage to Germany as a business location? Thorsten Frei from the CDU and many other politicians say quite clearly: YES and, according to the Tagesspiegel, describe the ban on the technology as “poison” for the economy.
Frei continues:
“The ban on combustion engines harms Germany as a business location and narrows the options for more climate protection in transport.”
Frei is therefore calling for the ban on new vehicles with combustion engines to be lifted from 2035.
Instead of the ban, “consistent CO2 pricing and an open-technology approach” should ensure climate protection in road traffic.
In addition to electromobility, part of the solution would be eFuels, hydrogen, waste-based biofuels and sustainably certified biofuels from cultivated biomass.
