Softening of EU ban rules decided

Combustion engines: yes or no? Softening the EU ban rules: Yes or no? What is the German government’s position on banning combustion engines?

Very clear – softening of the EU ban rules: YES!

According to Welt+, the German government has clearly agreed to vote in favor of weakening the EU “climate rules” that have been so strictly guarded up to now!

A rethinking process within the SPD was urgently needed. In view of the dramatic job losses in the automotive industry, even IG Metall boss Christiane Benner argued in an interview with the trade magazine Automobilwoche for a further softening of the ban on combustion engines – especially because “the demand for electric cars is currently lower than assumed.”

With regard to the topic of renewable fuels, it is particularly important that vehicles that run on these significantly CO2-new emission-reduced fuels are also equated with electric cars in fleet regulation.

We keep our fingers crossed!
