Former SPD leader Sigmar Gabriel castigates the end of the combustion engine

Is the EU ban on combustion engines really wrong?

Even former SPD leader Sigmar Gabriel is clearly saying YES and thus firmly contradicting the mantra-like rhetoric of large sections of his party and the Greens. According to spiegel.de, Gabriel commented on this to the Handelsblatt newspaper: He had “never understood why we Germans are so willfully ruining one of the most important pillars of our economy and our prosperity.” No other country in the world would do such a thing. According to spiegel.de, Gabriel also noted that the ban on combustion engines from 2035 onwards is all the more questionable because “a new diesel car must not shy away from comparison with the environmental impact of a battery-powered vehicle over the entire lifetime of the car.” In addition, these diesel vehicles could also be operated with alternative, synthetic fuels (eFuels) in a significantly more climate-friendly way! You just have to want this politically and not constantly prevent it! You can change this with your own vote in the 2025 federal election!
