From mid-April: HVO100 fuel with “up to 90 percent less “new” CO2 than fossil diesel during combustion!!!”
This was recently reported in the Bild newspaper, referring to the fact that the “Federal Council (…) has approved the introduction of the new biodiesel HVO100. This clears the way to the pumps, and it could be available at filling stations as early as mid-April.”
Important: HVO100 is actually NOT a conventional “biodiesel/FAME” – this designation and “eco-diesel” are therefore rather misleading. This is of course very good news for all diesel vehicle owners, environmentalists and many car clubs and associations! The car club “Mobil in Deutschland” celebrated this event with prominent guests such as Transport Minister Volker Wissing and rally driver legend Walter Röhrl under the motto “HVO goes Germany”.
Especially with regard to eFuels (synthetic fuels), this is of course also good news, as HVO100 shows that diesel vehicles can already be refueled across the board in a significantly climate-friendly way!!!
Now all that remains is to reduce the unfair CO2 tax so that drivers end up paying no more than the same per liter as for fossil diesel! There is already good impetus for this from business and politics!
