Combustion car ban only in Europe – does that make sense?

No other region in the world is on the verge of phasing out combustion engines – except in Europe. Many experts and specialists believe that this “artificially and politically” enforced ban is simply wrong!
And BMW boss Oliver Zipse has now also criticized this solo effort by the EU in an article on nius:
“Growth, for example, is essential to finance the energy transition. This growth is becoming more efficient, more sustainable and more ecological every day – essentially through new technologies. But you can’t force this transition with a crowbar. And you certainly can’t ‘design’ markets politically.”
In addition, it is already possible today to refuel combustion engines with modern HVO fuels and so-called synthetic fuels (eFuels) and thus significantly reduce new CO2 emissions in line with climate targets – even for existing vehicles!
The magic word is still openness to technology rather than a policy of prohibition.
The 2024 European elections on June 6-9 can certainly make a difference!
