The energy service provider Knittel from East Hesse would like to enter the marketing of alternative fuels (so-called e-fuels) in the future. With the help of several tanks for different blends of e-fuels, the Fulda-based company wants to bring the fuel to gas station pumps soon.
E-fuels are seen as the savior for the internal combustion engine
As one of the first companies nationwide, Knittel plans to offer the alternative fuel to motorists at one of the first pilot filling stations, probably as early as the first quarter of next year. Ten tanks with a total capacity of one million liters are currently being sunk on the Knittel site for this purpose. Planning and implementation will be carried out in cooperation with the Uniti association(efuel-alliance.eu), the producer Ineratec and other German mineral oil companies, among others.
“We want to get away from theory and into practice and show with this pilot project that e-fuels are absolutely practical and are available in real terms as an emissions-neutral alternative,” says Udo Weber, the managing director of energy service provider Knittel. The project also aims to switch 100% to e-fuels as fuel before 2050 and thus be able to drive in a climate-neutral manner, he said.
