BMW also relies on HVO100

Is the topic of “synthetic fuels” really just a pipe dream – as some critics and the media still stubbornly claim today?

Of course: NO!

The “all-electric” strategy previously pursued by the automotive industry has long since been softened, with the result that synthetic fuels are increasingly finding their way into companies.

One example: BMW. Back in January 2025, the BMW Group launched a new demo fleet for climate-friendly diesel fuels – with a focus on HVO100. This means that all diesel models produced in Germany have since been refuelled with HVO100 ex works.
BMW is thus demonstrating that existing fleets can already produce significantly lower new COâ‚‚ emissions today – without any conversion and regardless of the electric drive.

This is a great sign of a new openness to technology that is becoming more and more widespread!
