Does the new study by the lobby organization Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) really portray “climate diesel” HVO correctly?
Experts have looked at them and say: unfortunately NO!
Good to know in advance – in the apt words of FOCUS:
“The fact that Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) is lobbying for the ban on combustion engines and against diesel is nothing new. Just a few months ago, it was revealed that the association offered to run an anti-diesel campaign for two million euros for a gas lobby association – even though DUH is officially a charitable, non-profit organization. Experts are correspondingly skeptical of studies that have been commissioned by the DUH to repeatedly prove that HVO diesel is allegedly harmful to the environment.”
But what is the DUH study’s criticism of HVO?
The alleged harmfulness of synthetic fuel to the climate.
And what is the reaction of the scientific community, including the ADAC, to the study according to FOCUS?
“The scientific community, including the ADAC, quickly criticized several statements in the study. Among other things, the experts criticized that the test methods used did not comply with the emissions standard of the vehicles tested. In addition, the tests were even carried out on suspicion of committing administrative offenses in public traffic areas. This left the impression that the environmental lobby wanted to create a mood against HVO fuel and at the same time influence the national implementation of the EU RED III directive.
It is a pity that real alternatives and solutions for the success of the transport transition are being publicly prevented in this way – partly paid for with taxpayers’ money by means of studies.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that these lobby groups’ attempts to prevent this will remain unsuccessful.
