CSU leader Markus Söder wants to overturn EU combustion ban

Is our “all-electric” strategy in the transport transition really still up to date?

According to the Tagesspiegel, CSU leader Markus Söder says quite clearly: NO – and has the full backing of Sebastian Lechner, leader of the CDU in Lower Saxony.

Both are clearly against the EU-wide ban on cars with combustion engines from 2035 and want to overturn it.

Söder also told “Bild am Sonntag”:
“The EU ban on combustion engines in 2035 endangers hundreds of thousands of jobs and the combustion engine has a future “with e-fuels and new technologies”.
The latter statement is correct and overdue to finally be implemented!

According to Tagesspiegel, Sebastian Lechner believes the EU is on the wrong track. “The fleet limits should go, because with the trading of CO2 certificates we already have a technology-open and market-based mechanism that ensures more climate protection”.

It’s time for a change of direction!!!
