Opel puts an end to the “pure electric brand” path

Is our controversial “all-electric” strategy really still up to date?

Apparently: NO!!!

Because even the “courageous” pioneer in electrification Opel is now rowing back on the subject of combustion engines, according to Bild and Kronen Zeitung!

This is clearly stated in the Kronen Zeitung:
“The bold announcement that only electric cars would be sold in Europe from 2028 is history. Instead, “multi-energy” applies again – in other words, everything from classic combustion engines to hybrids and batteries will be available in parallel.”

And further: “The clear e-strategy has become an as-well-as.”

It’s great that all combustion engines can then be operated with synthetic fuels such as eFuels and HVO with significantly reduced CO2 emissions. And it is precisely this sensible, market-oriented and technology-open path that we have been advocating for years.
