Do all top managers from manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry really still support the “all-electric” strategy planned to date for the mobility transition?
Obviously: NO!
Because according to autobild.de, Mahle boss Arnd Franz expressed considerable concern in the industry magazine “Automobilwoche”, particularly because of the EU ban on combustion engines from 2035.
His plea: “We need technological openness. We need the approval of combustion engines that will run on sustainable fuels in the future.”
In the short term, this means more biofuels and, in the long term, synthetic fuels.
Above all, Franz also pointed out that “other regions rely on combinations”. autobild.de continues:
In Franz’s view, abandoning the business with combustion engines and hybrid vehicles would mean a loss of expertise. The corresponding jobs in research and development as well as in production would then migrate to China, North America, Brazil and India. Including skills and knowledge. Franz is concerned that other regions of the world are reacting more flexibly. They “clearly rely on a combination of electrification and combustion engines,” says the Mahle boss.
And again, the magic formula is openness to technology instead of bans.
