Can used electric cars like a Tesla really only be sold again with great difficulty and at a high loss?
According to a Stern.de report from December 26: YES!
The article even states that Hertz is literally “selling off” its Teslas at a “bargain price” and still not getting rid of them. Rental customers are happy to keep their Teslas – even though Hertz wanted to “drive forward” the electrification of its rental car fleet by purchasing 100,000 Teslas three years ago.
The reason for this 180° turnaround appears to be the high “vehicle throughput”. In this respect, a Tesla simply pays off much less than a modern combustion car. Good to know:
In addition, diesel vehicles could already be operated today with so-called renewable “climate fuels” such as eFuels in a significantly more climate-friendly way.
However, a ban on combustion engines – as the EU is still planning – would not allow this sensible addition to mobility options.
Perhaps the early federal elections on February 23 will change this unsatisfactory status!
