Frequent approval difficulties, often unclear rejection processes – exactly how compatible are existing tank rooms for sustainable XtL fuels such as HVO100?
A new scientific study conducted by Cirkel Beratungsgesellschaft on behalf of Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Deutschland e.V. (MEW) and its sub-associations Unabhängiger Tanklagerverband e.V. (UTV) and afm+e Allianz für Mobilität und Energie e.V. clearly shows that HVO100 is suitable for most existing tank farms and systems. Important:
The study was able to prove that HVO100 has a high level of material compatibility: The feared corrosion of tank systems and pipelines by HVO100 could not be confirmed. Although the physico-chemical properties of HVO100 differ from those of conventional diesel, they have no negative effects on the operation of tank systems. CONCLUSION: Conversion to HVO100 therefore generally does not require any major technical adjustments. Permits for the use of HVO100 – especially in the area of boat and ship traffic – should then no longer be a problem for the respective water protection authorities! To the website with study:
