Can “renewable gasoline fuels”* really be used on a large scale today with existing vehicles, refueling infrastructure, and digital certification technologies?
That’s exactly what’s currently being proven in a pilot project by BMW, Toyota, Bosch, and Repsol!
As part of this six-month initiative, which began in July 2026, approximately 20 vehicles from Toyota Motor Europe and the BMW Group are being used, all powered by Repsol’s 100 percent renewable gasoline, “Nexa 95.” The project is supported by Bosch’s digital fuel tracking system.

*Eligible fuels: Refers to renewable and low-carbon fuels that meet the EU sustainability criteria under the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and deliver significant greenhouse gas reductions on a well-to-wheel basis compared to fossil fuels. These include sustainably produced biofuels and renewable fuels derived from waste, residues, or renewable energy sources, as specified in the position papers issued by ACEA and FuelsEurope to promote the use of vehicles powered exclusively by eligible fuels (VEEF).
