Uniti makes it clear: eFuels will be affordable!

Misconceptions about the price and efficiency of eFuels

Time and again, insane figures, graphs and alleged facts on the subject of synthetic fuels(eFuels) haunt the Internet – especially with regard to the price and efficiency of eFuels. This is why Uniti has also recently issued a press release to clarify and clear up these misconceptions:

There it says to the price fallacy:
UNITI Managing Director Elmar Kühn: “The media often report absurdly high prices per liter that consumers allegedly have to pay for eFuels. However, these are prices for pure eFuels from current experimental or small-scale plants.” Important cost-cutting effects were not taken into account. (…)
Experts expect the production costs of pure eFuels to drop to around one euro per liter in the medium term.

And on the efficiency fallacy:
UNITI CEO Elmar Kühn: “Generally, questions about efficiency only arise when there is a shortage of a commodity. However, market-relevant quantities of eFuels would be produced in potential regions of the world where – unlike in Germany – renewable energies from wind and electricity are in absolute abundance.”
eFuels can therefore benefit from the fact that they can be produced at global locations with high electricity yields from renewable energies and imported from there – (in contrast to the charging current for eVehicles, which, on the other hand, has to be used close to the place of production due to storage and transport restrictions, for example)! Studies by experts have also shown that vehicles with internal combustion engines powered by CO2-neutral fuels have a similar result to battery-powered vehicles in an overall efficiency comparison for production and use.

The explicit emphasis here is on“holistic efficiency comparison“, since such energy comparisons are gladly avoided by eFuels critics!
