It’s a topic where the EU itself is slowly getting cold feet: the ban on internal combustion vehicles from 2035.
Just recently, BMW CEO Zipse warned against “committing to a phase-out date for internal combustion engines. This would displace inexpensive vehicles and make car ownership a question of wealth” – so writes ManagerMagazin.
Literally, he considers a ban on internal combustion engines“politically dangerous,” adding, “If car ownership is suddenly only available to rich people, that’s a dangerous thing.” Moreover, he reminds, “We’re a free nation – we offer choices, not restrictions.”
Technology openness is particularly important here, because even today, every existing combustion engine car could contribute to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions in transport and mobility with synthetic fuels known as eFuels.
