EU Parliament sets minimum quota for eFuels

It is probably one of the biggest days for all friends of synthetic fuels:
Because on Wednesday, the EU Parliament already set minimum quotas for the use of hydrogen and climate-neutral synthetic fuels, also known as eFuels, for the first time. In this context, the share of so-called renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) in the transport sector is to account for at least 5.7% by 2030.
A huge success for the topic of eFuels! Of course, we welcome this very much!

Quoting Dr. Monika Griefahn, CEO of the eFuelAlliance on the decision: “The confirmation of the European Parliament has resulted in better planning security for producers and users of hydrogen-based products such as eFuels. The Parliament’s vote underscores the ambitions of EU policy to make rapid progress in the area of renewable energy – and eFuels will play an important role in this. Only with concrete targets can the phase-out of fossil fuels be accelerated and CO2 emissions reduced. The last few months have shown that ‘business as usual’ is no longer an option and that Europe must rethink its energy supply. For the first time, eFuels ‘ contribution to sustainability and climate change goals is now recognized.”
