EU Transport Committee votes in favor of crediting renewable fuels

A very good day for eFuels and the combustion engine: since yesterday, the cards have been reshuffled at EU level on the subject of “eFuels in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles“.

The reason for this is the vote of the EU Parliament’s Transport Committee in favor of crediting renewable fuels in the CO2 fleet regulation issue with regard to passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. This applies to existing vehicles as well as new vehicles with combustion engines. “The resolution of the Transport Committee thereby also represents a clear rejection of a de facto ban on new registrations of combustion-powered passenger cars and light commercial vehicles from 2035 as proposed by the EU Commission,” Matthias Plötzke of UNITI summarizes unequivocally.

This sends a strong signal to industry and potential investors in particular, as crediting is an important prerequisite for entering into the development of the necessary industrial production of eFuels.
