Why is it so important that synthetic fuels be urgently recognized as an equal component of the transportation transition—just like electric cars?
It’s quite simple: In many areas, electric cars currently just don’t fully meet the actual needs of many vehicle owners and businesses that rely on daily vehicle use—especially when compared to internal combustion engine vehicles.
For example, according to WELT, the Schwarz Group (Lidl Group) is now opting to stick with internal combustion engines, despite all the tempting government tax breaks available for company vehicles!
The reason: the low residual values of electric cars on the German used-car market when they are resold. According to WELT, the Schwarz Group—which has traditionally been cost-conscious—considers the high depreciation of electric cars to be too great.
It’s a good thing that the Schwarz Group —which is very environmentally conscious and forward-thinking—can significantly reduce CO2 emissions from its existing fleet of internal-combustion vehicles by using synthetic fuels such as eFuels and HVO100.
Openness to technology is and will always be the magic word for a successful transportation transition.
