BMW boss Zipse calls for correction of EU rules for combustion engines

Electric cars against global warming?

According to heise.de, BMW boss Zipse questioned the regulations from Brussels at the Paris Motor Show in view of the demand for e-cars.

He was particularly clear about the planned ban on combustion engines from 2035:
“In order for Europe to become competitive again, politicians must set a framework for progress and prosperity instead of blocking successful technologies, Zipse said at the Paris Motor Show.”

According to Zipse, synthetic fuels (eFuels) should also be used as a matter of urgency and significantly reduce COâ‚‚ emissions:
“The EU must put unrealistic targets to the test more quickly, the BMW boss demanded. No EU country is even close to an all-electric car market. There are 250 million vehicles on the road in the EU today that could immediately reduce COâ‚‚ emissions with synthetic fuel. China and the USA will still be markets for cars that do not run on batteries after 2035.”

A newly elected government could certainly be more helpful than before in enforcing this demand at EU level!
