A great day for the topic of synthetic fuels:
Today, the BMW Group, Lother Group and German eFuel One, to which some of our eFuels Forum friends belong, signed a “Letter of Intent” for the use of eFuels as a first fill.
This is what German eFuel One says on its website:
“The future of mobility begins today: With the ceremonial signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI), the BMW Group, LOTHER and German eFuel One confirm their joint vision of a climate-friendly and sustainable future. At the heart of this pioneering partnership is a clear commitment to the use of CO2-reduced fuels in order to actively support the climate targets of German and European legislation.”
This is also a clear commitment to open technology – the previously one-sided “all-electric” path now appears to have been expanded to include a new strand: namely that of synthetic fuels.
According to German eFuel One:
“The BMW Group, one of the world’s leading premium manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles, has been setting standards in innovation, quality and sustainability for over 100 years. As a pioneer in the field of alternative drive systems, BMW is now examining the use of eFuels as a first fill fuel for selected production sites in Germany from 2028. This underlines the company’s holistic approach, in which all technologies – from electromobility to CO2-neutral fuels – can make an important contribution to climate protection.”
We congratulate everyone involved on this great, pioneering step!
