Do we really not need synthetic fuels for the transport transition, as some media and critics constantly claim?
Of course: DOCH!
According to ndr.de, HVO is to be used in diesel buses in Hamburg, for example, as they will no longer be affordable due to the ban on subsidies for electric buses.
Background:
The federal subsidy of around €150,000 (taxpayers’ money) per electric bus will cease at the end of the year, making each electric bus with a purchase price of €600,000 twice as expensive as a diesel bus.
It’s good to see that this reality is slowly bringing sanity back to some ideological milieus!
And it’s particularly good that climate-friendly HVO can be provided from “chip fat” – even though, according to some, there is not enough HVO to go around …
Of course, we are keeping our fingers crossed for this and hope that even more cities, municipalities and communities will recognize the advantages of renewable fuels for themselves!
