Climate-friendly aviation fuel from biogas – is that possible? Even with a view to large-scale production?
The ambitious Bavarian company Caphenia in Bernau am Chiemsee clearly says: YES!
CAPHENIA founder Mark Misselhorn told agrarheute.com:
“There is more than enough biomass worldwide to produce renewable fuels for aviation and shipping.”
It also states:
He sees enormous potential: over 500 million tons of renewable fuels could be produced worldwide with this technology – enough to supply the entire transport sector.
Caphenia is currently working on a prototype on the site of a former German chemical company. The centerpiece is a three-story high reactor that has to withstand temperatures of up to 1,500 °C. The reactor was specially developed by MAN Energy Solutions in Straubing.
