A synthetic fuel can only be used if its specification meets the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. The term eFuel alone does not constitute approval for every vehicle.

Depending on their properties and approvals, liquid synthetic fuels can be supplied through suitable storage, transport and refuelling facilities. Whether a particular product is available locally must be checked with the supplier.
Compare greenhouse gas balances
Burning carbon-containing eFuels also releases CO₂. A comparison with fossil fuels must consider the electricity and CO₂ sources, production, transport and use across the entire life cycle. A particular reduction cannot be inferred from the fuel’s name alone.
