Is Ursula von der Leyen buckling on the issue of reversing the ban on combustion engines<\/span> because of the demands of the European Social Democrats?<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 9.6. Europe<\/span> has elected a new parliament. Negotiations are now underway.
\nThe focus is on important election promises.
\nOne of these is the promise made by the CDU\/CSU<\/span> during the election campaign to push through 100% of the withdrawal of the combustion engine ban.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

But how secure is this promise, especially in view of the fact that the Social Democrats reject this withdrawal, but Ms. von der Leyen needs the votes of precisely this parliamentary group for her personal re-election?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

According to t-online.de, Transport Minister<\/span> Wissing is already clearly warning Ms. von der Leyen against giving in on this issue in the run-up to the negotiations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wissing states quite clearly: “If Ursula von der Leyen once again speaks out in favor of a ban on combustion engines, the CDU will lose all its credibility” (…) It would be tantamount to gigantic electoral fraud.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Especially in view of the fact that e-mobility has not yet taken off as promised and many large industrialized countries are increasingly relying on combustion engines again, it would be absolutely unreasonable to back down.<\/p>\n

In addition, combustion engines can already be easily and quickly refueled with alternative fuels such as eFuels and HVO<\/a> with significantly reduced CO2 emissions.
