The funding is intended to support new production projects for Sustainable Aviation Fuels\u2014specifically including electricity-based synthetic aviation fuels, known as eSAF. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the European Commission, the funded projects could collectively produce approximately 285,000 metric tons of SAF per year in the future. Whether and to what extent this capacity is actually achieved will depend on the successful implementation of the individual projects. <\/p>\n<p><em>What does this mean for e-fuels?<br \/>\n<\/em>1. Research projects are now set to be transformed into industrial production facilities<br \/>\n2. Europe is building its own technology and supply chains<br \/>\n3. Synthetic aviation fuels can be used in existing aircraft and refueling infrastructure within the current certification and blending limits<br \/>\n4. The market ramp-up is receiving concrete financial support<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, this decision shows that e-fuels have long since become more than just a theoretical possibility.
