Is the “all-electric” strategy we have pursued to date really still fit for purpose?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arnd Franz, CEO of automotive parts supplier Mahle, recently expressed his concern about the prevailing political regulation in Germany and the EU with regard to cars and drive technology!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

According to elektroauto-news.net<\/span>, Franz expects a divided world in the medium term: “I believe in a fifty-fifty world – 50 percent purely battery-electric vehicles and 50 percent electrified combustion engines powered by sustainable fuels.” And: “E-mobility alone will not be enough.” <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

He also “assumes that it will remain extremely challenging to sell enough battery electric vehicles to meet the targets.”<\/p>\n

His demand:
\n“We need a technology-open, non-discriminatory policy for drive technologies in the mobility sector.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In plain language: Away with the still existing EU combustion engine ban from 2035! The USA was recently able to abolish this in no time at all! <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span>Franz also made it clear to Die Welt: “Our combustion engine business is very healthy. We have to reduce it simply because of regulation!” <\/span><\/a><\/div>\n

And: “We have the highest electricity costs, unit labor costs and taxes in Germany!” Against this background, politicians in Germany and in the EU should certainly reconsider their current unilateral actions and interventions in the markets, as, for example, the EU ban on combustion engines would endanger around 280,000 jobs according to Franz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
