Based on current third-party studies, the study analyzes a possible volume ramp-up and the associated cost developments for the end consumer. eFuels<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b46871 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b46871\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>eFuels<\/strong> are the result of a <strong>multi-stage production process<\/strong> in which several factors influence the price. The <strong>largest share is accounted for by electricity costs (or electricity production costs)<\/strong>, as green hydrogen is required for production, which is obtained by electrolysis using renewable energy. Technological advances in electrolysis technology and economies of scale could reduce electrolysis costs in the future.  <\/p>\n<p>Another important cost factor is <strong>CO2 extraction<\/strong>, which is often carried out using direct air capture (DAC). This process, in which CO2 is captured directly from the air, is currently still expensive. However, the study shows that the costs of direct air capture could be significantly reduced in the medium term as technical development progresses and scaling increases.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Electrolysis<\/strong>, in which water is split into hydrogen and oxygen, is another significant cost factor in eFuel production. As the market for electrolysis plants is still relatively young and massive investments are currently being made, the study expects significant cost savings in the medium term &#8211; especially by scaling up production capacities into the gigawatt range. <\/p>\n<p>In comparison, synthesis, which combines hydrogen and CO2 to create liquid fuels, is more cost-effective. In addition, the use of existing infrastructure such as pipelines and filling stations enables efficient distribution without additional investment. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ccfbe22 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ccfbe22\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-717cdaa\" data-id=\"717cdaa\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ba1770 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4ba1770\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Current and future production costs<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e6a7cd4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e6a7cd4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Based on the question of how the production costs of eFuels could develop, the study shows that costs could <b>fall<\/b> from the current \u20ac1.58 to \u20ac2.29 per liter <b>to between \u20ac0.99 and \u20ac1.09<\/b> in the long term as technological improvements and learning curve effects take effect.<\/p>\n<p>This corresponds to a retail price of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>eBenzine: 1,37 \u20ac \/ liter<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>eDiesel: 1.59 \u20ac \/ liter<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The development of production locations also plays a decisive role: regions such as Patagonia or the MENA region offer great <b>potential for cost-efficient eFuels production<\/b> due to their favorable natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>The price of eFuels can also be reduced by the political framework, such as tax incentives.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-430de95 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"430de95\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9afd351\" data-id=\"9afd351\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bcb67ec elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bcb67ec\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Blending paths for eFuels<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86d24d4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86d24d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The introduction of eFuels could initially take place via blending in conventional fuels. The study shows that a low proportion of eFuels in the fuel mix would initially have only a minor impact on prices, which would facilitate gradual integration. Policy measures such as <b>mandatory blending quotas<\/b> could increase the share of eFuels over time and thus <b>stabilize consumer prices<\/b>.
